Home Sweet Home

Michaela was released from the Hospital on Friday.  She had a rough transition as the pain medication prescribed made her nauseous.  Unable to eat or drink, she became dizzy and that cycle made her first day home challenging.  Fortunately, she stopped taking the pain med so her nausea is down to a bearable amount and her appetite is returning.

While sleep is still not coming easily, being home is definitely more conducive to rest than being poked and prodded every few hours.  Michaela reports being able to sleep much better in her own bed and it appears that the over-the-counter pain + sleep meds are sufficient to help her rest.

The meals are continuing to arrive each evening along.  With the reality of recovery setting in, these serve as welcome reminder of the love and support of her community.

  1. Dear Francoise and her family,

Francoise, thank you for informing me of this, your recent health challenge. I have been “thinking of you”, which, as you may suspect means my form of prayer and intention. I do hope you have had a restorative week back at home and are enjoying increased strength and renewal.

Would you and/or your family like to receive either of the skills I can offer you now?

As you know I have been a caregiver. Should your family and other friends want/need a break I would be happy to come for some time of serving your needs. We could discuss details.
Also, Francoise, I finally have my certification in manual lymphatic drainage ( and Complete Decongestive Therapy)! over 3 years directed at this goal, and…ta da. here am I, newly hatched! As you know this work is extraordinarily gentle and deeply relaxing. Also helps with pain bec of so many receptors being “distracted” by pleasurable sensation (well that’s how I see it anyway…tho that does not explain why its effects can last for days and days…). Water element; why would I presume to explain? Anyway. I offer this to you or yours. I would also be happy to donate a couple of sessions if you do have a services raffle. Again, happy to talk details.

Your skills and loving care have been a blessing to me at many needful times. I do hope you will let me know whether I can be of use to you now.
    Sending my love,
    Diane Nettles
